Big crash

Today was the last training run before the Super- Combined competition tomorrow. I hade a good run yesterday, and was feeling confident before the training. The temperature was awfully cold (minus 20-25C), but the sky was blue, snow was hard/icy and the downhill track was as good as I ever have seen it.

I started off and was skiing really well. At the first section I had the best time of the day, and in the end of the second section I was only 3tenth out of the leader. That was when it happened, my ski caught an edge and I straddled in a gate. Going in approx 130km/h, that is not what you want to do… I lost my balance and burse into the safety net in a big speed. As fast as I came into the net, I came out. Doing all sorts of spins I landed on my head, back and ass before stopping. It all went so fast, and I felt immediately that I was beaten up pretty bad, but it did not feel like anything was broken. My only concern was my left knee. The same knee that I injured 7 weeks ago. I was high on adrenaline, and knew that if you still are able to locate the pain, it does not look good.

At the hotel the team doctor and physiotherapist examined the knee, and came back with positive answers. It looked like all the ligaments was intact. To be sure we went to the Stedman Clinique in Vail. They are known as the best in the world when it comes to knee injuries. Together with another examination by the doctors at the Clinique, we did both the MRI and the x-ray scan right away. It looks like there is a bone-broose in the knee, and a compression to my already weak fibula/ outer legament. All inn all I was lucky, and really happy that I can continue the season.

Right I now I feel sore, but alright. I´m still on the startlist for tomorrows race, and hope that a good night sleep will do me good.
