The 2009/10 season is over, but we are already well underway preparing
for the next. The last weeks we have been stationed in Hallingdal,
Norway putting down long hours in the hill. The conditions is
absolutely tremendous! We have been switching between the resorts in
Geilo, Ål and Hemsedal, only an hour's drive from each other. In this part of...
In this part of Norway the winter is still beating the warm summer breeze, and we get to ski on perfect midwinter conditions all day. The sky is blue, and the sun is shining from 6 in the morning till 8 at night. But I must say, the best part is actually that there is no one else in the hill. We basically have the whole mountain for our selfs! Knowing what we can expect at the glaciers in the fall, this is a luxury you can´t put a prize on.
Today we rounded up the FIS season with a slalom in Hemsedal. The event is called "Ski4Fun", and pretty much every skier in Norway from the age of 11 come here to finish the season. It´s exiting to see all the kids get after it, just the way we do. I won this race last year, and made it a back to back victory today! Espen Lysdal finished 2nd and Kjetil 3rd. I must say that I´m really impressed by the slalom level in Norway. Many of the skiers really have a great technique and potential. In a given course and on a given snow, I´m sure there is about 10-15 racers that most curtain, keeps a world class level. If they can improve their weaker sides, I´m sure we will have a strong norwegian slalom team pretty soon!!
Tomorrow it´s time for a well deserved day off, before continuing the camp monday. After two weeks off getting up at 5-7 in the morning, nothing will taste better then to have a morning of quality sleeping.
